Preparation of the foundation (dead of winter - February, 2003)

Building a window well with VOBB block

Start with the corner. Once the corner is built, then a string can be used to align the middle of the wall

Wetting the VOBB block both inside and outside BEFORE pouring in the cement mix

Pouring in the cement mix - DRY - THIS IS A BIG TIME AND LABOR SAVING METHOD!!!!

After the mix and water is in, just stir with some rebar to settle the mix.

It is is much easier and cheaper to mix in the water using a waterhose with a nozzle vs. mixing the cement mix

Put in the door and window frames at the SAME time the VOBB block are dry-stacked

Use some small 2 to 3 inch wooden wedges to make sure the wall is level. Very cheap and very easy to use

A proud worker - he had never laid block before in his life
