An 18" VOBB equals 3/4 (75%) of a sq. ft. of wall facing - 6 inches high and 18 inches long.

A 12" VOBB equals 1/2 (50%) of a sq. ft. of wall facing - 6 inches high and 12 inches long.

A 6" VOBB equals 1/4 (25%) of a sq. ft. of wall facing - 6 inches high and 6 inches long.

As such a 10 ft. by 10 ft. long wall is 100 square feet of wall facing.  This 100 square feet divided by .75 (75%), equates to 133 of the 18" equivalent VOBB block.  However, this 133 of the 18" VOBB needs to be converted to the proper number of 18", 12" and 6" VOBB.  The Excel file does this calculation very simply.

Generally, a "typical" home will use the following percentages:

18" VOBB is used 83% of the order.
12" VOBB is used 11% of the order.
6" VOBB is used 6% of the order.

This ratio is dependent on the number of doors, windows, corners, etc. Please have your architect/professional designer calculate the number of square feet of VOBB wall you want for you. Some design programs (such as Chief Architect) will caluclate the exact number of 18" equivlent VOBB needed.
