VOBB roller

The VOBB roller is to make sure that the height of VOBB block is an exact six inches. With the dependability of the VOBB roller, the responsibility for an exact fit is transferred to the block plants. This is to eliminate the wasted time on the job-site and to facilitate the dry-stacking of the VOBB concrete block.

Our goal is to be able to dry-stack forty (40) VOBB block vertically on top of each other and have a height of exactly twenty feet. We will then be able to use mathematically correct size doors (based on a grid of six inches) and windows and eliminate a lot of wasted time on the construction job-site.

As such, very simply the VOBB roller rolls on top of all of the VOBB concrete blocks after they are produced by the block machine while the blocks are still "green". The height is set so that the distance between the roller and the pallets is exactly six inches. The measurement is made on both sides of the roller to be sure the production is level and equal for all VOBB block made at the same time (four or six).

If you would like to see a video of the VOBB roller in production, please send us an e-mail, jg@vobb.com. This is a video of the roller producing 16,000 VOBB block on a Besser Dynapac machine in Baton Rouge, LA. The VOBB block were produced four-at-a-time at 9.5 cycles per minute. The video is 42 minutes long and is 470 megabytes. As such, we need to send this video via a CD instead of a file to download from the Internet. Please send us your complete mailing address and phone number.

This is an overview of the roller installed over the conveyor behind the brush.

This is a close-up view.

The roller is placed behind the brush which is to clean the waste on the top of the block.

front left view - The are four large bolts at mid-level for easy installation of the roller over the conveyor. In addition, the roller has a set of "smaller" bolts for fine tuning the height of the roller to the pallet.

Here are the VOBB blocks exiting from under the roller.

This is the bottom of the roller as it rolls on top of the VOBB block.

VOBB blocks before they enter under the roller

The VOBB block were produced at 9.5 cycles per minute.

This is the electric control box.

The roller has a speed control so that it will roll as the same speed as the conveyor. The roller has a heater to keep the aggregate from sticking to the roller.

This is the wiring inside the control box.

There are four bolts on leg at mid-level to easily install the roller over the conveyor.

There is one large bolt on the bottom of the leg to raise and lower the height of the roller. This is very simple to get the approximate height. On the top part of the roller, there is a smaller bolt on each side to raise and lower the roller as required.

The installation of the VOBB roller is very simple as Besser Proneq did a very good job in the design of this special piece of equipment. The roller is built with with very heavy duty metal in the frame and roller. There are four bolts on each leg of the frame at mid-level. These bolts are removed to allow the bottom part (the "base") to be placed under the conveyor line. The top part is then placed on the top over the conveyor line. The roller is adjusted so that the height of the roller is exactly six inches above the pallets. There is a large adjusting bolt on the bottom of each leg to raise and lower the roller. Likewise on the top, there is a smaller adjusting bolt on each side to make the job relatively easy.

The heater and the motor (which turns the roller) use 230 volts.

The roller should be placed behind the rolling brush so that the top of the block is cleaned as much as possible of unwanted trash. In this particular block plant, there was an air gun to clean the top of the blocks in front of the brush. This air gun removed approximately 80% of the trash from the top of the VOBB blocks.

VOBB has three patents for the VOBB method of construction and the VOBB blocks. A fourth patent has been applied for just the VOBB roller.
